For third year in a row zetaFORMS makes a Diorama of Burgas Sand Sculptures Festival. This 3D piece of art precisely recreates the shapes and proportions of the sand figures. The small-size scale model with dimensions 100 cm x 90 cm keeps the magic of the sand city for the future generations.

The Sand Fest has long since become emblematic for the city of Burgas, as well as one of the eagerly awaited events in its cultural life. Its tenth special edition is a kind of retrospection that combines the best of all the previous editions. Every sculpture corresponds to some past topic, but has a new vision, new plot, new spirit and emotion. "Sand Fairy Tales" tell a tale of more than 50 characters of celebrities, important history figures and faerie characters.

The sand sculptures stoically resist the weather from July to October every year, bringing joy to thousands of visitors. And with the help of the Diorama the sand city will continue to bring joy to its visitors for years from now on.

"That artwork is so impressive, but so fleeting" zetaFORMS 3D designers say. "The 3D technology gives us a chance to freeze these unique moments and to compare their history through the years. And leave them for the generations to come"

The standard diorama techniques are not sufficient for producing this diorama. The creation of so complicated forms as the small-size sand figurines is extremely tricky for every other method except for by 3D scanning and 3D printing. Each of the figures is photographed from all sides and a three-dimensional digital model is created. After a precise computer processing the virtual images are materialized again – they are built on a professional colour 3D printer, thus turning into realistic mini versions of the large original sculptures.

For the complete recreation of the Festival some standard diorama elements are added – palms and trees in the corresponding scale, small pebbles for the paths, pedestals for the figures – everything identical to the ones in the complex. Moreover, mini sculptures of real visitors are recreated, who enjoy the sand figures and take pictures with them.

Everything is created with great love and attention to the detail and repeats the atmosphere with its elegance, atmosphere and even dynamics.
